https://botgarden.uga.edu/event/winter-tree-identification/Trees may be most beautiful in the winter, when they are stripped down to their basic architecture. But can people know them without their leaves? In this class, students will learn the basics of identifying trees in winter by studying twigs, bark, leaf scars, fruits and tree form. Students will learn to use a hand lens and a simple key for woody plants to identify species. Class time will be divided between classroom exercises and a field trip to the deciduous woods at the State Botanical Garden.
