Minneapolis-based dance company Threads Dance Project is thrilled to present “Impressions of Black History” at UGA, with excerpts from director Karen L. Charles' work, “Let America Be America.” Using spoken word and dance vignettes, this work highlights the joys and challenges of “the America that is” and “the America that could be.” “Objet de Désir Inaccessible” is based on the painting “Portrait of a Negress” by Marie-Guillemine Benoist, and explores racism, feminism, identity, and beauty.
