Terry Leadership Speaker Series: Bonney Stamper Shuman

Bonney Shuman (BA ‘80) was a co-founder of Bar Code Systems in 1983, which later became Stratix Corporation.  She served as president and chief executive officer until she sold the company in 2011. Stratix Corporation helped hundreds of end users, distributors and other organizations gain a competitive advantage by utilizing bar coding and other forms of automatic data capture.

During her tenure at Stratix, Shuman served as the president of AIM USA, the automatic data capture trade association; was a board member of Women in Packaging; and served on the Georgia Women’s Business Council.

She currently serves as a trustee of the UGA Foundation (serving as treasurer and finance chair) and she is Immediate Past President of the University of Georgia Alumni Association. In addition, she is on the executive committee of the Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation and is treasurer of Christ Church, Frederica.

Shuman holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia Terry College of Business where she majored in finance.  She is married to Billy Shuman. They have two children: Billy Shuman, Jr., a recent graduate of UGA; and Mary Ellen Shuman, a third-year law student at UGA.
