In 2021, NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), Metaverse and Web3 have become debated topics, hailed as the pillars of our digital future by some and as dystopic means of capitalist extraction by others. This talk gives a concise and comprehensive overview, goes beyond the headlines and provides insights through a first hand, personal experience from the field of digital arts.
Dr. Michael Straeubig (@crcdng) is a systems theorist, artist and creative coder, exploring relationships between technology, society and the arts in a playful manner. Michael has received a Masters in Computer Science (Diplom Informatiker) from the University Erlangen/Nuremberg and a PhD from the School of Art, Design and Architecture at the University of Plymouth as a Marie Curie Fellow.
