Summer EL Virtual-Engagement Workshop #2: PreK-12th

Engaging ELs in Content Instruction Using Virtual Tools Workshops

Main goal: to provide targeted and applied opportunities for teachers to practice virtual tools and develop strategies to engage ELs in content instruction that is collaborative and conversation-based in face-to-face, hybrid, and virtual spaces

Participants: PreK-12 educators

Time: 8 hours (synchronous & asynchronous)

The workshop will:

  • Model synchronous and asynchronous tools for building community, fostering productive collaboration and providing authentic opportunities to use and practice language
  • Provide opportunities to plan practical lessons and to practice strategies to engage ELs in content instruction using virtual tools
  • Foster a community of practice among participants to plan with, during, and after the workshop

Organizers are offering the following four workshop options, each with 8 hours of asynchronous and synchronous engagement. All asynchronous engagement includes online coaching support and all synchronous engagement will be conducted via Zoom:

Course Schedule:

  • Pre-course Asynchronous Activity (1 hour)
  • Synchronous Meeting (2-hour Synchronous Meeting via Zoom)
  • Mid-course Asynchronous Activity (3 hours, online coaching support available)
  • Synchronous Meeting (2-hour Synchronous Meeting via Zoom)



  • Option 1: PreK-12th Workshop
    • June 9 & 16, 10am-12pm
  • Option 2: PreK-12th Workshop
    • July 14 & 21, 10am-12pm
