About this Event
90 Carlton Street, Athens, GA 30602
http://www.georgiamuseum.orgTeaching artist Gabriella Victorio will lead a three-part series of studio-based courses presented in conjunction with the exhibition “Wealth and Beauty: Pier Francesco Foschi and Painting in Renaissance Florence” February 3, 10 and 17. Through this course, we will look closely at embroidery in works of art on view in the exhibition and in our collection. The class will work with fabric, needles, embroidery hoops and floss to learn beginner stitches and complete a design of each participant’s creation. Artists of all experience levels are encouraged to attend, as these sessions are designed to educate even the total beginner. The $15 materials fee covers all necessary supplies for the workshop. Space is limited; email gmoa-tours@uga.edu to register.
Victorio is the Parker Research Assistant at the Georgia Museum of Art and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in art education at the University of Georgia. She taught herself how to embroider by hand 10 years ago and enjoys creating new designs as well as teaching beginners how to pick up the art form.
