Athens Social Justice Symposium
This annual student-organized event fosters dialogue and interaction between Athens area residents and organizations that are working toward sustainable social change on a local level.
Topics include money management, disability empowerment, community displacement, mental health and immigration law, among others. More than a dozen nonprofit organizations will be represented. The event also includes presentation of the June Gary Hopps Bridge Award, which recognizes the efforts of a local individual or group in support of human rights.
The symposium is sponsored by the Center for Social Justice, Human and Civil Rights, the UGA School of Social Work, UGA Office of Sustainability, UGA Office of Multicultural Services and Programs, and the Georgia United Credit Union.
