Dr. Brenda Elsey is a Professor of History at Hofstra University in New York, who is one of the foremost scholars of gender and soccer in Latin America. In this lecture, she will delve into the roots of women's soccer in Latin America, the struggles of players, and the exciting solidarities that have emerged across the sport. A deep dive into the region's favorite pastime will help people understand women's movements in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico. The lecture should be of interest to a broad range of faculty and students, including those interested in gender and society, Latin American political and society, and soccer and politics.
