Passion, versatility, and uncompromising artistic standards are the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s hallmarks. As the ensemble embarks on an exciting future with the patronage of HRH the former Prince of Wales and the recent appointment of music director Vasily Petrenko, it maintains its status as one of the world’s most open-minded, forward-thinking, and accessible orchestras. For its first visit to Hodgson Concert Hall in 12 years, the ensemble is joined by UGA Presents’ 2023-24 Artist in Focus Isata Kanneh-Mason (see pg. 25) for a performance of Clara Schumann’s dramatic piano concerto — a true showcase for a keyboard virtuoso. Also on the program: Mendelssohn’s lyrical The Hebrides and Rimsky-Korsakov’s dazzling Scheherazade.
