To mark the centenary of Swiss-American photographer and filmmaker Robert Frank's birth, the Interdisciplinary Modernisms Workshop sponsored by UGA's Willson Center for Humanities and Arts will screen two short films highlighting Frank's long-time collaboration with the Beat poets: Pull My Daisy (co-directed with Alfred Leslie, 1959), a milestone of avant-garde cinema based on Jack Kerouac's unfinished play Beat Generation, narrated by Kerouac, and featuring fellow Beats Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, and Peter Orlovsky alongside celebrated French actress Delphine Seyrig; and This Song for Jack (1983), a freewheeling documentary film shot at the Jack Kerouac conference hosted by Boulder's Naropa Institute in 1982 and featuring many luminaries of the Beat Generation.
The film program runs approximately one hour in length and will be accompanied by an introduction and Q&A.
