CMA 2022 Opening Night: Liebermann and Chausson
Celebrating the long-awaited return of Chamber Music Athens, this opening night gala features the world premiere of a new work by CMA 2022 composer-in-residence Lowell Liebermann written for and performed by UGA’s own Yargo Trio. Atlanta Symphony Orchestra concertmaster David Coucheron leads Chausson’s passionate Concerto for violin, piano, and string quartet, and exciting young cellist Khari Joyner receives a spotlight in Schumann’s gorgeous Adagio and Allegro. All three distinguished guest artists come together in Liebermann’s soulful Piano Quartet. Featured UGA artists and friends include Kenn Wagner, violin (ASO, a frequent and treasured guest performer at School of Music concerts); Connie Frigo, saxophone; Angela Jones-Reus, flute; Maggie Snyder, viola; David Starkweather, cello; and Liza Stepanova and Alan Woo, piano.
This performance is underwritten by Dr. John Maltese.
Lowell Liebermann’s residency at Chamber Music Athens is made possible by a grant from UGA’s Willson Center for Humanities & Arts.
