This installment of the Department of History’s undergraduate lecture series features Dr. Claudio Saunt, as he presents the question, "Why did Nazis admire U.S. Indian policy?"

Professor Saunt teaches courses in Early American and Native American history, digital history, and race and slavery. Saunt's most recent book is Unworthy Republic: The Dispossession of Native Americans and the Road to Indian Territory (Norton, 2020). Unworthy Republic was awarded the Bancroft Prize and the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award and was a finalist for the National Book Award. It was recognized by both the Washington Post and Publishers Weekly as one of the ten best books of 2020, by the New York Times as a Critics’ Top Book, and by the Boston Globe as one of the best books of the year.
