The Innovation District Seminar Series in February will feature a UGA Signature Lecture by Ajay P. Malshe, professor and director of the Materials, Manufacturing, and System Integration Laboratory in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University.

Malshe's talk, "Nine Facets of a 'Profeneur,' A Professor Entrepreneur," will explore nine personality traits associated with university educators becoming university entrepreneurs. The talk will highlight examples of academic professors who transitioned to entrepreneurs and helped advance the quality of life for society, promoted economic development through the creation of new jobs and products, and empowered students.

The Innovation District Seminar Series is a new series designed to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity and collaboration, and to promote greater synergy among members of the university’s research, innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystems. This monthly forum will bring together faculty, staff, students and alumni, along with local entrepreneurs, community members, service providers and industry representatives, to discuss and strengthen UGA’s culture of innovation.

The lecture will be followed by a networking reception with refreshments and delicious food. Paid parking is available in the North Campus Parking Deck. Registration through Eventbrite is requested.

Thanks to Hutchison PLLC for its support and event sponsorship.
