Housing Code Hack Event

Athens Area Habitat for Humanity and WUGA FM are co-sponsoring a “Housing Code Hack."  The purpose of the event is to identify and update sections of local zoning and building codes that impede greater housing affordability. A panel discussion will be held in the auditorium of the Athens-Clarke County Library featuring State Representative Spencer Frye, Athens Mayor Kelly Girtz, Clarke County Commissioner Ovita Thornton, civil engineer Jon Williams, and builder and energy activist Michael Songster. The event is free and open to the public.


The discussion will be recorded and broadcast as a special episode of WUGA'sAthens News Matters on Aug. 30at 1 p.m. and again on Sept. 1 at noon.
