About this Event
This semester, participants will read and discuss A Field Guide to Grad School: Uncovering the Hidden Curriculum (2020), by Jessica McCrory Calarco. Topics include deciphering academic jargon, staying on track in a graduate program, promoting research, and navigating conferences and the job market. Students will meet four times to discuss specific chapters of the book in a peer-learning format to provide a forum for discussion and support. Students who register are expected to read the assigned chapters and participate actively in the discussion.
Registration is limited to 25 participants, due to scope of the book and the topics covered. Participation is limited to doctoral students. The UGA Graduate School will provide the first 10 students who register with a copy of the book.
