A key part of the toolkit for effective teaching and learning is the ways in which an instructor or TA can contribute to student motivation to engage and learn. Fortunately, there is a lot of research available on the subject, and a wide variety of ways to positively impact students' motivation. In this workshop,  instructors will focus on the Expectancy and Value theories of motivation, and collaboratively build a set of strategies to contribute toward student motivation.
