Teaching a topic while still learning it can feel overwhelming, but it’s also a common and formative experience for a TA. Indeed, rather than being a disadvantage, it can actually be a powerful opportunity for teaching professional development. In this workshop, instructors will explore the unique challenges that arise when learning and teaching at the same time, from psycho-emotional hurdles to practical limitations and strategic decision-making. Participants will learn how to categorize these challenges and connect them to evidence-based teaching practices. They'll leave with concrete strategies tailored to context and the confidence to teach effectively — even when educators are still finding their own footing.
