CANCELLED: Garden Travels: Diane Napier

Diane Napier, a native of South Africa, has traveled and conducted research in many African countries. Recent travels in East Africa included visits to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust sanctuaries for rescued elephant and rhino orphans in Kenya. In 2018, Napier became a foster parent to a rescued baby elephant, Ambo. In 2019, the Napiers visited the three Sheldrick reintegration units in the vast Tsavo National Park, where they adopted six more orphan elephants. Come on a journey starting in Nairobi with the Sheldrick elephant nursery, then to the wilderness-area reintegration units in three different subtropical habitats. Discover the beautiful ancient Kibweze Forest, sweeping Tsavo plains, wild rivers, the diversity of trees and flowers, and spectacular wildlife. Meet Ambo and the other elephant orphans and their dedicated keepers caring for these amazing creatures, to eventually return them to the wild. Learn about the Sheldrick Trust program and how to participate as a foster parent.
