DESCRIPTION:Financial Literacy on the Lawn\, a signature event of the inaug
 ural Financial Literacy Week at UGA\, will be held on April 12 from 12-4 p
 .m.\n\nThe event at Myers Quad will include interactive games\, inflatable
 s\, music\, food from Jimmy John's and Smoothie King\, and lots of great f
 inancial information and resources.\n\nThe inaugural Financial Literacy We
 ek at UGA is intended to raise awareness and create conversation around mo
 ney and its significance in our lives\,' said Megan Ford\, director of UGA
 's ASPIRE Clinic and FACS assistant to the dean for applied interdisciplin
 ary programs. 'Financial well-being tends to be an underrepresented\, but 
 incredibly important\, dimension of our overall health and well-being. FAC
 S is uniquely positioned for educating and impacting the UGA community thr
 ough our amazing students\, faculty and programs.'Financial Literacy Week 
 continues on April 13 with a screening of '$avvy. Women. Money. Freedom.' 
 at the Tate Student Center Theater from 2-4:30 p.m.\n\n“$avvy is an awar
 d-winning documentary film about women’s financial empowerment\, and we 
 are thrilled that the UGA provost’s office has helped us bring this to t
 he UGA community\,' Ford said. 'People\, particularly women\, often feel i
 ntimidation and shame when it comes to money talk. Providing more space fo
 r financial conversations helps normalize our feelings about money\, creat
 es more empathy for ourselves and each other\, and opens the door to new k
 nowledge and solutions. Through the film screening\, it is our hope to dec
 rease this stigma\, reduce money shame and create spaces for people to fee
 l safe to begin engaging about their money lives."\n\nFollowing the film\,
  we will have a powerhouse panel discussion featuring several FACS alumni:
  Kaylee Ranck\, Timi Jorgensen and Contey Smith\, FACS  faculty member Dia
 nn Moorman and Atlanta-based financial wellness expert\, Tania Brown.
