Dr. Lihua Xiao is a Professor at South China Agricultural University. He received his PhD and postdoctoral training in the United States, and was a Principal Investigator in the Division of Foodborne, Waterborne, and Environmental Diseases, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), USA during 1997-2018. For the last 25 years, he has focused mostly on genetics and genomics, host-pathogen interactions, and molecular epidemiology of foodborne, waterborne, and zoonotic parasites, and is mostly noted for his work in Cryptosporidium. He has published >400 original papers and edited several books and special publications. He was an editor of Clinical Microbiology Reviews (2015-2020), and currently serves as an associate editor for Frontiers in Microbiology, section editor for Parasitology Research, and editorial board members of several prominent journals in microbiology and parasitology, including Journal of Clinical Microbiology, Veterinary Parasitology, Experimental Parasitology, and One Health. He is a recipient of the Henry Baldwin Ward Medal from the American Society of Parasitologists (2012), and one of Highly Cited Researchers by Web of Science (2018-2022).
