Stallings, a 2019 Pulitzer Prize finalist. Later, at 7 p.m., The Georgia Reviewand the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame will present a reading and reception with Stallings at the Richard B. Russell Building Special Collections Libraries (300 S. Hull Street, Room 285). Both events are open to the public free of charge. A limited number of copies of Stallings’s most recent collection, Like, are available at no cost for UGA students who commit to attending the afternoon discussion. Copies of the poet’s books and The Georgia Review will be available for purchase at the evening reading.
Earlier this year, Like (Farrar, Straus and Giroux) was a 2019 Pulitzer Prize finalist in poetry. Stallings’s previous poetry collections are Archaic Smile (University of Evansville Press, 1999), which won the Richard Wilbur Award; Hapax (Triquarterly, 2000), which won the Poet’s Prize and the American Academy of Arts and Letters’ Benjamin H. Danks Award; and Olives (Triquarterly, 2012). She has also published a verse translation of Lucretius’s The Nature of Things (Penguin Classics, 2007). Her work has been supported by grants and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts as well as the Guggenheim and MacArthur foundations. Stallings, who earned her B.A. in Latin from the University of Georgia in 1990, currently lives in Athens, Greece.

The Georgia Writers Hall of Fame was established in 2000 by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, part of the University of Georgia’s Special Collections Libraries, to honor Georgia writers and introduce the public to its rich collections for research into Georgia literature and cultural history. An annual public ceremony at the University of Georgia’s Richard B. Russell Building Special Collections Libraries celebrates each year’s annual inductees in conjunction with an exhibit of rare books and literary manuscripts.
