DESCRIPTION:Sounds are an integral part of a person's knowing and being in
the world\, and yet they are often overlooked or flattened into textual re
presentations in traditional research. Sonic inquiry is an interdisciplina
ry method of research that takes up skills and traditions from geography\,
anthropology\, ethnography\, and the arts. This presentation offers an ov
erview of audio and sonic methods as well as examples from research projec
ts that incorporate sound as analysis and representation.\n\nPresented by
Dr. Maureen Flint\, assistant professor in the Qualitative Research Progra
m\, UGA Department of Lifelong Education\, Administration\, and Policy.
