What does Dawg Day of Service entail?
Dawg Day of Service is UGA’s biggest annual service event. Site leaders, typically members of Serve UGA, are going to serve as guides the week before the event and on the day itself. Volunteers will receive information about their site the week before to learn about their site, their site leaders, and their fellow team.
The morning of Dawg Day of Service, volunteers should park at or travel to Tate Student Center. They will check in at Tate Grand Hall on the 5th floor, sign waivers, grab breakfast and a T-shirt while supplies last. The group will watch a short presentation explaining the sites for Dawg Day of Service. Then, registrants will be volunteering for approximately 3 hours with nonprofits in the Athens-Clarke County area.
Many of these nonprofits function primarily or completely on volunteers sharing their time and labor. Volunteer work may include cleaning, preparing food, painting, outdoor maintenance, gardening, or sorting supplies and materials. All of the work during Dawg Day of Service directly supports the mission of each nonprofit and people in this community.
