500 D. W Brooks Drive, Athens, GA 30605

Meet three scientists who studied parasite biology and immunology as graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Each of them has taken a different professional path in academia, philanthropy, and industry. Our guests will give individual presentations followed by a podium discussion with ample opportunity to ask questions. While our speakers initially trained in parasitology, we believe their insights will likely inform the career consideration of a broad range of Ph.D. candidates in the fields of microbiology, immunology, and molecular biology.

  • “PhD Career Outside of Bench Work: Learnings from Experience in Science Philanthropy,” Daren Ginete, Ph.D. Fellow, Science Philanthropy Alliance
  • "An academic career in parasitology can take you to exciting new places," Tiffany Weinkopff, Ph.D., assistant professor, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Arkansas School of Medicine
  • “A zig-zag career from academic research to commercial anti-microbial drug discovery and vaccines,” Robert Donald, Ph.D., senior director, Department of Vaccine Design, Immunology & Anti-Infectives, Pfizer
