About this Event
The University is working through the notification and approval processes required for the construction work needed to reopen the Baldwin Street closure beneath the railroad trestle near East Campus Road. The area has remained closed to vehicle traffic due to safety concerns after a steel beam beneath the trestle was damaged. Work to reopen the road to vehicle traffic is scheduled to begin by mid-September and be completed by the end of December.
Pedestrian and cyclist access remains open beneath the trestle due to the installation of temporary covered paths that provide overhead protection. Active traffic management will be in place from 7:30am until 5:30pm M-F at the intersection of Mitchell and South Thomas Streets to lessen the closure’s impact on travel times. However, until work is complete, travelers should consider alternate routes and plan for extended commutes.
