The Communication Matrix is an assessment tool for teams who support individuals with severe communication difficulties. It focuses on what the individual can communicate, using pre-symbolic and symbolic modes, and provides a framework for determining future goals. The assessment targets early expressive communication and is a valuable tool for both children and adults, regardless of chronological age or identified disability/diagnosis, who function at the earliest stages of communication. GSAP would like to introduce the Matrix to a broader community in Georgia and provide a platform to learn with and from each other about this great tool and how to use it to create communication plans for students.
