About this Event
500 D. W Brooks Drive, Athens, GA 30605
The College of Education's annual Research Conference is back and better than ever. This year, in addition to a keynote address from Brad Phillips, Millikan-Reeve Professor and head director of the Georgia Clinical and Translational Research Unit, the Office of Research and Graduate Education has added a new component to increase collaboration and spark ideas across the College: the Research Rumble!
This is a chance for our researchers across the College to shineâand show off their groundbreaking work for a cash prize! Inspired by the format of TED Talks (and a dash of "Shark Tank"-style competition), this first-ever Research Rumble invites departments to submit one competitor each, who will then have 5 minutes to "sell their science" to the crowd and judges. Use the time wiselyânot only is this a chance to explain cutting-edge ideas, but it's also an opportunity to introduce colleagues across the College to new projects and ideas. And the winner wins a cash prize to be used toward the research!
Research Rumble Rules
One contestant per department with faculty/PI "pitcher" determined by internal process. Each department must determine who from their unit will "pitch" using the internal process of their choice.
Each contestant presents a five-minute pitch with minimal slides expressing the following:
The Problem & Why We Should All Care
Research Proposal Pitch (including funding amount, project details, how the results address the problem)
Awards will be given at $500, $1,000 and $2,000 levels. The deadline to submit the PI name and project title is Friday, March 9.
