The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy's Chu Lectureship welcomes a world-renown drug discovery scholar to campus each year for a presentation on his/her area of expertise. This year, Lawrence (Larry) G. Hamann, PhD, who is the co-founder, president, and ceo of Interdict Bio, a new venture-backed biotech company based in San Francisco, is the speaker.

Interdict’s powerful, highly innovative therapeutics platform addresses historically undruggable targets in oncology, rare diseases, neurodegeneration, and autoimmunity. In his prolific 30+ year career in drug discovery, Hamann has led teams responsible for more than 20 clinical stage compounds spanning multiple therapies, modalities, and targets. He was awarded the American Chemical Society’s Division of Medicinal Chemistry Award and inducted into the Medicinal Chemistry Hall of Fame. Hamann earned his PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Michigan.

The College of Pharmacy’s Chu Lectureship recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of Distinguished Research Professor and Professor Emeritus Dr. David Chu, who has spent his entire career researching new drugs for the treatment of viral infections and cancer.
