The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor Donald Runnicles return to Hodgson Concert Hall with a robust and tuneful program of symphonic classics for the final concert of the Performing Arts Center’s 25th Anniversary celebration week.

First, the Scottish maestro leads the orchestra in Max Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy, a four-movement fantasia on Scottish folk melodies in which ASO concertmaster David Coucheron and principal harpist Elisabeth Remy-Johnson bring the piece’s Celtic flavors to life.

Next, the orchestra plays Beethoven’s Third Symphony, “Eroica,” one of his most celebrated compositions, significant both as a turning point in the composer’s artistic style and achievement and for ushering in the beginning of the Romantic period in classical music.
