About this Event
90 Carlton Street, Athens, GA 30602
http://www.georgiamuseum.orgPhoto-based artist Tokie Rome-Taylor focuses on questions that stem from ethnographic and historical research. Her work is inspired by the material, spiritual and familial culture of descents of southern African Americans. Children, family heirlooms and the real or imagined histories of these children's families and their ancestors collide to spark conversation around material culture and familial and cultural traditions of African Americans in the South. This program is presented in conjunction with an installation of Rome-Taylor’s work currently on view in the museum’s permanent collection galleries.
