About Irshad Sulaiman: Dr. Irshad Sulaiman has been involved in the area of biomedical research focusing on the control and prevention of human-pathogenic microorganisms for over three decades. He has obtained his PhD degree from Delhi University. Since 2008, Dr. Sulaiman has been working with FDA Atlanta Lab. Prior to that he has worked with the CDC for eleven and half years and a year with the Medical College of Georgia. His major focus is characterization of various emerging infectious pathogens isolated from waterborne, foodborne, and airborne outbreaks, consumer complaints, sporadic cases, and environmental surveillance samples, at the molecular level (gene/genome) of public health importance. He has developed many novel molecular diagnostic methods, described several new species and genotypes, and published over 97 peer-reviewed manuscripts. He has also contributed for 7 Book Chapters, 145 Meeting Abstracts, and more recently edited two reference books in his area of expertise.
