DESCRIPTION:"A Southern Fix" is a film about how to end the unnecessary kil
 ling of adoptable shelter animals.  Filmed largely in Georgia\, the docume
 ntary examines the causes of pet overpopulation\, especially in the Southe
 rn U.S.\, and highlights positive programs that are trying to solve this c
 omplex social problem. \n\nDiscussion will be led by Dr. Janet Martin\, DV
 M\, medical director of the Athens Area Humane Society\, and by Lisa Milot
 \, an associate professor of law at UGA with a research area in animal wel
 fare. Milot is also a director for Athenspets\, the volunteer group for At
 hens-Clarke County Animal Services\, and designed and runs its spay/neuter
  and medical programs.\n\nSponsored by Speak Out for Species and Sustainab
 le UGA as part of the Animal Voices Film Festival.
