"A Southern Fix" is a film about how to end the unnecessary killing of adoptable shelter animals.  Filmed largely in Georgia, the documentary examines the causes of pet overpopulation, especially in the Southern U.S., and highlights positive programs that are trying to solve this complex social problem.

Discussion will be led by Dr. Janet Martin, DVM, medical director of the Athens Area Humane Society, and by Lisa Milot, an associate professor of law at UGA with a research area in animal welfare. Milot is also a director for Athenspets, the volunteer group for Athens-Clarke County Animal Services, and designed and runs its spay/neuter and medical programs.

Sponsored by Speak Out for Species and Sustainable UGA as part of the Animal Voices Film Festival.
