Pilar Chamorro is an Associate Professor in the Department of Linguistics and the Department of Romance Languages at the University of Georgia. Her main areas of specialization are semantics and pragmatics with particular interest in cross-linguistic variation of form-meaning mappings. Her research explores temporal and aspectual reference, evidentiality, the mass/count distinction, plurality, quantification and polarity phenomena, focusing on Guajajára (Tentehar, Tupi-Guarani), Spanish, Portuguese and Galician (Romance). Since 2015, she has been collaborating and conducting fieldwork with the Guajajára people in the State of Maranhão, Brazil, and has published on tense and the mass/count distinction in the Guajajára variety of the Tentehar language.
