WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
The 2022 Athletic Training Workshop will be held July 22-24, 2022 on the campus of UGA. This 3-day workshop is designed for high school age students who will learn valuable information in the sports medicine arena as well as taping techniques and injury identification. No previous experience is needed to attend.

PROGRAM FORMAT

The workshop will be offered over a 3-day, 2-night period. Overnight accommodations will be provided by the University of Georgia Housing Services where students will be supervised by UGA staff and divided by Male/Female. Students who wish to commute will be supplied parking permits. Parking permits will cost $7 per day and must be requested prior to arrival.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Any high school student who will be in grades 9-12 as of September 2022. Instructional classes will be held in the UGA Athletic Training Laboratory in the Ramsey Center, and other UGA Athletic Training Facilities.

EDUCATION FOCUS
Topics for this year’s workshop will be offered for students who wish to improve or gain knowledge in the area of sports medicine.

This 3-day camp is designed to introduce and expand students’ knowledge of the field of sports medicine and athletic training. Students will experience a hands-on learning environment in the following areas:

  • Foundation of Injury Evaluation
  • Heat Illness Prevention
  • Treatment of Acute Injuries
  • Injury Prevention
  • Ankle Taping
  • Knee Taping
  • Hand and Wrist Taping
  • General Bracing Methods
  • Communication Skills
  • Emergency Action Plans
  • Concussion Recognition
  • Emergency Action Plans


CAMP SCHEDULE
Camp registration will be from 1—2 PM on July 22 and conclude at 12 noon July 24. Please plan to drop off and pickup your child at these times.

MEALS
All meals will be provided by the UGA Dining Services at on campus dining halls. Please indicate any eating restrictions that we should be aware of in the registration information.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Sleeping Bag/linens & pillow
  • Toiletries/medications
  • Raincoat
  • Comfortable clothes for lectures/labs
  • Notebook and pen
  • Eager attitude to learn
