Communism" looks at 1980s Romania, when a black market operative and a courageous translator smuggled and dubbed thousands of Western films, providing a glimpse of freedom and possibilities to those laboring under Ceaușescu's oppressive communist regime. Discussant: Tudor Vlad is director of the James M. Cox Jr. Center for International Mass Communication Training and Research and professor in the Department of Journalism, Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Georgia. Vlad has 20-year experience as a journalist in a totalitarian system and as a communication expert in an emerging democracy. After the fall of communism in Romania, he was the editor-in-chief of two prestigious publications (one in English).
