“‘Where I Come From...’ The Wanderer Enslaved and Their Descendants.” Focuses on slaves who landed on Jekyll Island in the New York Yacht Club pleasure ship the Wanderer and considers their capture in Congo riverside villages and barracoons, their personal accounts of transit through the middle passage, their life on southern plantations and the challenges they faced once no longer enslaved. To conclude with a tour of “Face Jugs: Art and Ritual in 19th-Century South Carolina” led by Dale Couch, curator of decorative arts, and a reception.
