The Wiener Sängerknaben, or the Vienna Boys Choir, traces its founding back to 1498 when Emperor Maximilian I moved his court and court musicians from Innsbruck to Vienna. Today, the boys captivate loving audiences throughout Europe as well as on tours to Asia, Australia and the Americas.

Today, the Wiener Sängerknaben has its own school, where almost 250 children receive a complete musical and general education through the elementary grades. At age 10, the most talented boys are selected to join the choir. Each boy is assigned to one of four touring choirs and spend nine to 11 weeks of the school year on tour.
