Nuclear Power and Climate Change

This event explores the role of advanced nuclear reactors as one component of the global response to climate change. Fourth-generation reactor designs, currently under development, should alleviate some of the safety, waste disposal, and proliferation concerns that have impactged the current generation of reactors.
Speakers include David Gattie and Todd Rasmussen from the UGA College of Engineering and Glenn Carroll from Nuclear Watdch South. A question and answer period will follow each speaker.
The event is sponsored by the UGA Office of Sustainability, the Georgia Initiative on Climate and Society, the Georgia Climate Change Coalition, and Citizens' Climate Education. Several UGA and local groups involved in climate change will set up literature tables and be available for discussion. Refreshments will be served.
