2015 Founders Day Lecture

In recognition of the university's anniversary as the nation's first state-chartered institution of higher education, the UGA Alumni Association and the UGA Emeriti Scholars present the annual Founders Day Lecture. The lecture has become a Founders Day tradition, drawing alumni, students, faculty, esteemed guests and members of the community. Speaker: Paul Kurtz, UGA School of Law J. Alton Hosch Professor of Law and associate dean emeritus.

The Department of Financial Planning, Housing and Consumer Economics is having a Showcase Kickoff event where faculty will host a reception to celebrate with current and prospective students. There will be door prizes, food and plenty of FHCE faculty to discuss the department with students. This begins the FHCE showcase week that will feature panels, a career and internship fair, a financial planning banquet and more.

Class: American Sign Language Level 2

Classes and Workshops

Participants will learn more sign language gestures, finger-spelling, American Sign Language grammar and vocabulary to express more complex ideas and sentences. Additional information on the deaf/hearing impaired culture will be shared. Class will be held Mondays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. through April 6. No class will be held March 9.

Class: Introduction to Lightroom

Classes and Workshops

Participants will learn how to manage a photo library and produce excellent images for printing and display. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is an easy-to-learn photo editing and photo management program. This software product provides everything needed to organize, edit, print and share photos. This class will be held Mondays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. through Feb. 5.

Performance: Garrison Keillor

Performing Arts

This is the rescheduled performance originally slated for Sept. 24. Tickets purchased for Sept. 24 will be good for this performance. Garrison Keillor is an American author, storyteller, humorist, and radio personality. "A Prairie Home Companion," his popular radio variety show, has been a Saturday night ritual for millions of listeners for almost 40 years. His memorable 2012 Hodgson Concert Hall appearance was a sell-out. Presented in cooperation with The Classic Center.
