US Forests and Climate Presentation

Renowned climate scientist and Tufts University Professor Emeritus William Moomaw and Danna Smith, the co-founder of Dogwood Alliance, a leading forest conservation organization in the Southern U.S., will present findings from their joint report, "The Great American Stand: US Forests and the Climate Emergency," and explore solutions with an audience Q&A afterwards.

Lunch & Learn: Use of the Executive Order

This spring join the Richard B. Russell Library for Political Research and Studies and partners for a weekly lunch and learn series focused on developing a better understanding of Congress. Civic Knowledge = Civic Power invites guest speakers from the Department of Political Science to give brief talks on topics connected to the history and function of this branch of government, followed by informal discussion with attendees. Odum Lecture in Ecology

The 32nd annual Odum Lecture, "Collective Sensing and Decision-Making in Animal Groups: From Fish Schools to Primate Societies," will be given by Iain Couzin, chair of Biodiversity and Collective Behaviour at the University of Konstanz, Germany, and director of the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology, Department of Collective Behaviour. The lecture will be followed by a reception in the Ecology lobby.

“Messaging Matters: Explain Yourself,” Charles Craig, co-founder of the life sciences public and investor relations consultancy firm Opus Biotech Communications. The Innovation Gateway Lunch & Learn series provides training and presentation sessions that occur once a month during the lunch hour. The goal is to inform and inspire individuals working with startup companies as well as those interested in issues facing university startups. Symbiofest

Symbiofest is a one-day meeting where anyone can give a 10-minute presentation on some aspect of their symbiotic (mutualistic, parasitic, commensal) research. This year's keynote address, "Stressful Times: Skeletal Signatures of Coral Reef Bleaching and What They Tell Us about the History of Mass Bleaching and Recovery in the Central Pacific," is by Anne Cohen, associate scientist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.
