Human-Animal Bond Poster Presentations

Classes and Workshops, Exhibitions, Health, Free Events

Posters about human-animal relationships and therapeutic interventions as an aid to physical and/or emotional assistance will be presented by graduate students in the social work class "The Human-Animal Bond and Professional Practice." A representative of the Atlanta-based nonprofit Canine Assistants, which trains service and seizure response dogs, will be present. Light refreshments will be served.

Innovation Gateway Lunch & Learn: Opus Biotech Communications

“Messaging Matters: Explain Yourself,” Charles Craig, co-founder of the life sciences public and investor relations consultancy firm Opus Biotech Communications. The Innovation Gateway Lunch & Learn series provides training and presentation sessions that occur once a month during the lunch hour. The goal is to inform and inspire individuals working with startup companies as well as those interested in issues facing university startups. Topics range from employment issues and tax credits to grant programs and intellectual property.

Teen Studio: Still-Life Painting

Teens ages 13–18 are invited to this studio-based workshop led by local artist and educator Kristen Bach. The group will learn about still-life painting traditions and check out examples of still lifes in the museum’s permanent collection, then make their own in the studio classroom. Morning Mindfulness Workshop

The Georgia Museum of Art invites you into the galleries to participate in free guided mindfulness meditation sessions, held every other Friday during the spring semester. Sessions include instructor-led meditation followed by a period of reflection. Stools (without backs) are provided; please bring a cushion if desired. Conference: Healing the World Through the Arts

This conference on art and mindfulness, organized by Jerry Gale, UGA College of Family and Consumer Sciences, will begin with presentations in the M. Smith Griffith Auditorium by Christy Gray, artist Bob Hart, singer Maggie Hunter, marine biologist Tish Yager and others, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. After that, breakout sessions will be held throughout the museum from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on subjects including yoga, tai chi, walking meditation, nonviolent communication, singing and the museum's Artful Conversation program. No registration required.
